#13 Old Honey Paws / Niamh Backstory Backlash

After leaving the arena, the party decided to go to the town to the northwest (north of the Redwood Forest). The party noticed it was nothing but fey. Sprites, fairies, dryads, satyrs, etc. The sprites took Rogar away and began to play with him in the nearby river. The king then came out of his hut and yelled "ROGAR!" Rogar then tackled the king and began to lick his grizzled face. The party, confused, had many questions. The king said Rogar was raised in this town and was sent away to guard the forest they found him in when he was older. The king introduced himself as "Old Honey Paws" and immediately told the party to stay for the feast.

After eating, the party was taken aside by the king and asked for a skirmish between the king and his guards vs the PCs to see how strong Rogar has become.

During the battle everyone used nonlethal damage, as it was a friendly skirmish. Rogar ended up getting bitten and failed his save against the werebears bite. The PCs eventually pulled through and defeated the bear king and werebear guards. The king told Rogar he is in good hands and gave him his best wishes.

After leaving town, the party was ambushed by Niamh's old clan, the Daardenian. They wanted the sorcerer's book back that she had stolen as a child. They told the PCs that the grandson of the sorcerer needed the book to train his skills.

They fought a dragonborn rogue, paladin, and monk.

This fight... it was intense. I wasn't TRYING to kill the PCs.. but the party pulled clutch. Rogar went down once, Emmley was close to going down, and Niamh was about half hp.

All in all, I enjoyed the fight and it added some flavor to her backstory.

*****Debura appeared after the fight, told the party that the totem they have been carrying around since... the beginning has doubled as a location device for him. He has heard and seen EVERYTHING they do. He told them what ingredients he needs to summon a Great Old One. The party then decided they didn't want any part of that, and cut all ties with Debura. *****
