#8 Bigger and Better Things

The party decide with the closure of Baleek to venture out to the east. They soon came across a large village of trolls that they successfully sneaked past and came across a nearby farm, Schrute Farms. 

They met Dwight and Rogar helped plow the fields, Niamh milked the cows, Emmley collected eggs and sheered the sheep.. kind of. She snipped the ear off of one. Dwight thanked them for their help and sent them on their way towards Wrine, the trading city. On their way they seen a Dire Bear which they snuck passed to enter town.

As they entered, Emmley went to shop, and Niamh, the intimidator, intimidated the bear from attacking the town. As the bear left, they were greeted by the head of the guardsmen. She told the party that they were having a feast tonight for a guest and they were invited for helping protect the town. During the feast, they seen a man in white robes staring at them during the whole dinner. After confronting the head guardswoman, she informed them that he was from the wizard tower to the north. He was there to protect the town, but not upset the balance of nature, like the bear. He is only there to check up on everything roughly once a week, and help around with things, and report back to the tower. 

Once the party left and rented a room in the inn, they woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't move (hold person spell). He informed the party that he was Iris, a archmagus, and didn't wish to hurt them. He told the party that what they were doing was wrong, and who they were helping was not who they thought he was. The wizard answered all of the questions they had and left through the door, and locked the inside of the door from the outside. They could then move, and finished their long rest. 

 

When they woke, the party left to the east towards the Redwood Forest. When they reached the forest, they could tell there was not streams of light coming through the trees, but darkness covering the whole forest. They seen a familiar figure exiting the forest and soon realized it was the lich, Segat. He laughed and told the party to have fun with his pet. 

Emmley rushed into the forest and began to cut down a tree as 3 spiders stacked on each other came rushing at her and webbed her. She cut her way out as they scurried back into the forest. The party made their way through until they met a colossal spider. After defeating said spider, the party climbed the ladder of the gigantic tree to find a bear at the top, choking out Emmley. As her eyes closed and re-opened, it was a druid with huge antlers. He told the drow that he was sorry and began to speak of the evil fog that surrounds the town. Being of the arcane arts, Niamh knew to cast dispel magic, and the fog dissipated, curing the forest. The druid thanked the party and offered any assistance he could.
